Three Affirmations to Harness Your Personal Power

harness your personal power

Perhaps you can relate to this - as you transition through different phases of your life…some lasting a couple months…and some longer… you also transition through an emphasis and awareness on different themes. Over the past month or so, I’ve felt a strong pull towards further exploring, nurturing, and embodying my personal power. I, now more than ever, feel determined to fully lean into my light, my energy, my vibration, and my ability to [for lack of a classier way to say this] - make shit happen; I feel wholeheartedly (and whole-bodily) committed to the practice of moving one degree closer to my most authentic and powerful self in every moment.

Don’t get me wrong, although this theme has been overwhelmingly present in my heart and mind recently, this is the practice; that one degree of transformation is met with whole body resistance some days. Yet, despite the resistance - even on the most cloudy of days - I return to that commitment to self.

I’ve not only been thinking a lot about what personal power means to me but also how it feels in my body. How can I consciously tap into what that energy feels like in my body? How can I more easefully cultivate it on days where the clouds are thick and the resistance is heavy?

To me, one’s personal power is so much more than just confidence. So much more than being assertive. So much more than solely taking action. Yes, all those attributes most definitely contribute to the overall embodiment of one’s personal power…but, to me, true personal power lies in our grace. In our empathy. In our vulnerability. In our willingness to connect. True personal power is love.

As I’ve become more curious about this phase and overarching theme of exploring my personal power, I’ve noticed a few phrases have turned into my daily affirmations & mantras. As I list them below, I invite you to reflect on how these feel to you. As you do, ask yourself :

Does this feel true to me right now? If not, when was the last time I felt this and what was I doing?

What sensations do I feel in my body when I hear myself say this out loud?

I am stronger than I’ve ever been

This is a song lyric that, at this point, has truly seeped into my brain and body; it’s become one of my favorite affirmations / mantras. The more you practice what it feels like to believe this, the easier it becomes to believe it… and there is nothing more empowering.

I am more aligned with who I am every day

This affirmation has been helpful when I need to give myself some grace. Every day, I am learning, I am choosing, I am growing into a better version of myself - a more aware version of myself. I, by absolutely zero means know everything, and some days, I mess up. I notice where I could’ve been more aligned - kinder, more patient… a higher version of self - and that’s ok. Every day is a part of the journey and it’s about choosing to learn and choosing differently in the moments that follow.

I am capable of anything

This one really gets my personal power engine revving. When I get thinking about it, anytime there is something that feels too big, too grand, too unattainable… I ask myself why? Maybe the better question is why not me? Only I am imposing the limits on my life.

I invite you to reflect on these affirmations -

Do they feel true to you when you say them aloud to yourself?

What sensations do you feel in your body when you hear yourself say these affirmations to yourself?

If these do not feel true to you, that’s ok. Give yourself some grace. These - although narratives we DO have the power to choose - are not usually what most of us are operating with. In fact, most of us are operating from a place of unconscious acceptance of the exact opposite.

Instead, when you become aware of a limiting belief, get curious…ask yourself:

What if this belief were not true? Could something else be true? What has to be true for me to stand in and cultivate my personal power in this moment?

And then play. Play with the idea of a different story, a different belief.

Choose the story that propels you. Choose the story that frees you. Choose the story that ignites your personal power.
